Radical Resthomes is an alternative living arrangement designed to provide seniors with community and autonomy on their own terms.

Radical Resthomes was designed for those who want to age comfortably, around others, and on their own terms. Inspiration for this project comes from Janet’s own desire to age gracefully: “We've been living our lives for the last 70 or so years. We know how to cook, we know how to clean, we know how to get along with people. If we need care, we'll bring it in. It's co-living, and it’s mutual support to age gracefully.”

Janet joined Balsam to help lift her project off the ground. Through conversation-based research - the main component of the Validation program - she gained insights on her potential customers and how to optimize her business model.“Being part of a cohort and learning best practices propelled me forward. I identified and talked to many potential stakeholders. I knew exactly what to ask them and got the insights I needed. It was helpful to speak to other innovative senior housing projects around the world.”
